Freshwater and saltwater fish like salmon and halibut and even tuna are great sources of these fatty acids. Another way to increase your brain power and memory is to believe it or not laugh. Keeping yourself in a good mood and laughing often will engage multiple sectors of your brain at the same time. This stimulation is in a way, just like exercising a muscle. When you use a muscle a lot it gets bigger. The same is true of your brain. When you can stimulate multiple sections and keep them active they will get used to being stimulated over time. This is a great way to increase not only your memory but also the speed at which you can think of things.

These exercises work on a few different principles but overall it is another way to offer stimulation to your brain. Just like exercising it with laughter, when you engage your mind with various math problems, logic puzzles and other stimulation you will not only work your brain out with already known functions but also new things. Just like when you learn something new in school these exercises will help you learn new things.
One final method to increase your memory is to stay healthy and make sure that you do not skimp on your sleep. When you pass on getting the right amount of sleep your mind gets groggy and cannot function the way that it should. Sleep recharges your body and your mind. Studies have shown that only when you are in the deepest stages of sleep does your brain start to consolidate memories and new lessons learned. This consolidation is one of the ways that your brain stores memories for later retrieval. Without the proper sleep it is much easier to forget things.
Getting the right amount of sleep, exercise, nutrition, and mental work-outs are a few things that you can do to improve your brain functions. Your brain is a muscle just like anything else in your body. You not only have to keep it healthy and give it the things that it needs, but you also must get it the proper rest if you expect it to function at full capacity. You need to make sure that you refuel and recharge if you expect your brain to give you everything that it has to offer.
